Garry Evans has more than 11 years of experience in the extractive industry.
Prior to joining Assala Energy, Garry held HSSE leadership positions in both BHP Billiton and Tullow Oil. His career spans over 20 years throughout which he has delivered and supported engineering projects and operations across the world. During his four years in Tullow Oil, Garry was responsible for managing HSSE in South America, the Caribbean and in Africa, including Gabon.
Garry has developed, implemented and provided quality assurance of management standards across multiple disciplines for both start-up and mature operations. As part of the implementation of these standards, Garry has recruited, trained, and coached local capability to ensure sustainability and build a culture of open reporting and continuous improvement.
Garry began his career as an Officer in the British Army Corps of Royal Engineers. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Edinburgh.
